Sunday 22nd October 2023 at 3 pm at Stoke Damerel Church, Plymouth The Marsha Head Concert Marsha de Thornley Head graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, with L.R.A.M. and G.R.S.M. ( London) having won First Prizes in J. S. Bach Interpretation and a Recital Competition, both with Distinction. She is particularly renowned for her keyboard improvisations and is a musical synaesthete. After teaching at the RAM and at the Royal School for Daughters of Officers of the Army in Bath, she now teaches privately. She gives Lecture Recitals on the History of Keyboard music, playing her extensive collection of early keyboards dating from the 1700’s to her modern Concert Grand piano. She writes about music, philosophy, ethics, Nature, and also composes, her works having been broadcast and recorded on CD. Programme to include Passacaglia, Siciliana and Innocence Lost. Guo Yue: Flute recital Guo Yue is a virtuoso of the dizi (Chinese bamboo flute) and bawu (Chinese free reed pipe). He was born in Beijing, China and as a young boy experienced the Cultural Revolution. In 1982 Yue left China for England, where he went on to study the silver flute at the Guildhall School of Music. He plays many kinds of bamboo flute and currently lives in London, recording for Peter Gabriel's Real World label.
